What did you think about last night's epiodes? Me? I loved The City and I was totally disappointed in The Hills. I'll add my full $.02 in the comments section later and I 'd love to hear what you all thought too :)
I loved the City! I laughed out loud when Roxy and Whitney were having a cake fight. It reminded me of some of Lauren's interactions with Lo and the old Heidi. I love seeing what goes behind the scenes at People's Revolution, Elle and the development of Whitney's fashion line. This show has so much more substance than the hills. I love Kelly Cutrone but feel that the Erin/Olivia feud is getting old. Hopefully they resolve this problem and it won't be carried into next season.
I only saw the coming attractions to next week's Hills finale and can't believe that they are still regurgitating the same Kristin/Justin/Audrina and Kristin/Brody/Jayde story lines...especially when we know that it is all fake!
The Erin and Olivia fight may be much ado about nothing considering that we know they still work together. Nonetheless, I enjoy it very much when Erin gets all mad and I really hope she tells Olivia what she truly thinks about her in her face instead of telling it to Joe or Bryn.
I still believe Stacey is a weird addition to the show. When I saw Justin getting out of the shower and Kristin in bed I remembered what she used to say about the show just being a job. That's how she interacts with her co-workers? Thank God Audrina is not with him anymore.
I'm over The Hills. Who cares about a strip club romp and ex-boyfriends who never go away(Justin! Brody!) Not me. It's tired and it's trashy!
I love The City. I wasn't totally sold on the show on it's first go-around. But I was loyal * haven't missed an episode * and it's finally got to the depth and layers I've been craving. I love seeing the creation process of Whitney's line and the dynamic between all the girls. I'm excited to have a new favorite show!
The Hills started to expire as soon as Lauren lost interest around season 3. Adding Kristin was just a bad and desperate attempt to keep things going. It's not the show we all fell in love with.
I like The City. I'm not in love with it, but it's growing on me. I like that the focus has been on work and friendships and not idiotic guys like Jay this season.
Where to begin.... I guess let's start w/ the bad aka 'The Hills' This is not so much a commentary about last night's episode but rather a rant about the whole season I say this week after week but I truly don't understand how this show has evolved from a "story" about friendship/life/work into a show about nothing. There is no focus other than the scripted drivel they're trying to get us to buy and frankly I don't find it remotely interesting. I loved Kristin and Lauren on LB because they both had such different personalities but with this scripted Kristin they've given us someone who is very difficult to relate to. Where's the vulnerability? the emotion? I'll settle for any emotion other than screaming... If there going to have multiple fake romances where is the chemistry, the passion? The only chemistry I've seen is in the brief flashes of friendship between Audrina and Steph and Audrina and Heidi. And btw where is Stephanie? She was voted fan favourite last year on the MTV website and they repay the fans by never showing her again? wtf? And where have Audrina and Lo been? How did the Hills become The Brody and Spencer show? I have zero desire to ever see Charlie or Sleazy T again. And honestly ditto for Justin and ditto for Brody. They're beating a dead horse here! I'm starting to wonder if Adam Divello is smoking crack. Does he honestly believe this is what the fans want to see? Do they really think we want to see Kristin in a strip club? That we'd find it titillating or taboo? Oh please... Sorry if this comes off as harsh but I've been an uber fan from Day 1 and I hate what they've turned this show into. I still love and follow all the girls but this year I found myself much more interested in the photos from when they were filming than actually watching what was aired on the show. It's sad and I miss what was. End of rant
Kelli, I completely agree with you. I have been watching The Hills from day one, and absolutely loved watching Lauren’s life, her AUTHENTIC friendships, jobs, relationships. Lauren is sweet, kind, relatable, fashionable, classy. The Hills used to be (Lauren made it) aspirational, and it was a show I really looked forward to every week to watch. It was engaging, inspiring, a little ‘escape’ from daily life. Kristen hasn’t changed since Laguna Beach, on The Hills she is disengaged, rude, aggressive, promiscuous, unrelatable, will trample on anyone to get her way. Kristen and Lauren couldn’t be more opposite, and I can’t understand how MTV would ever think a number 1 rating show with heroine Lauren as the star, would work replacing with her anti-hero Kristen from Laguna Beach. I can’t stand what The Hills has become since Lauren left. The fake friendships really get to me; how is it that Kristen is friends with Stacey the bartender? I am still utterly confused even why Stacey was at Heidi and Spencer’s wedding when Heidi HATED her and never wanted to see her again? No doubt because the producers of The Hills are PAYING Stacey to be friends with her; it has turned into a paid soap opera. Back in the days of Lauren, we saw real friendships, childhood friend of Lo, the friendship that formed interning at Teen Vogue with Whitney, Heidi and Audrina. On the new Hills I feel friendships are staged; you can visibly notice the difference in Lo’s expression/body language having lunch with Kristen (because its her job and she gets paid to do so) as opposed to when she used to have lunch with her best friend Lauren.
The City has gone from strength to strength. To begin with, back in Season 1, I didn’t get that into it. The Jay’s friend and his girlfriend storyline was weak- What was her name? The one Kelly Cutrone said was too thin. She was always mopey, sad and depressed. The City used to be a lot ‘darker’, set in the evenings, lighting has a sobre effect. Everything about this season is brighter, from the cast, to the settings. I think the best thing that happened to The City was the introduction of Roxy. Roxy is fun, energetic, honest, charismatic, not afraid to speak her mind. She brings a spark out in Whitney that I love. And lovely Whitney can do no wrong. This season she has really blossomed and come out of her shell, I think she has really found her feet in NY. I’m loving getting to see the creation of her fashion line, something I wish Lauren had shared with viewers. Also happy Whitney moved from DVF- that got a bit old. Why did Olivia and Whitney leave there? I wonder if they didn’t want to be filmed by MTV anymore. I do miss Erin as she was a bit like Roxy, but Roxy gives it that extra oomph. I’m loving seeing Kelly Cutrone again and the People’s Revolution and Elle insights into working in NY.
OH MY GAWD!!! The Hills is officially the dumbest, fakest show on television. Why am I watching it??? Who gives a f**k about whether Brodie has feelings for Kristin...no one. At least there was something real between Justin and Audrina in the beginning. AGGGHHHHH why did they wreck the Hills with fake stupid scripted scenes. LAME!
