Audrina Patridge Fights Back!
As Audrina Patridge shoots her sixth and final season of The Hills, she’s become a household name at 25, with her own reality series slated for next year. She’s also in a solid relationship with singer Ryan Cabrera, 27. Life’s good. Which is why Audrina was shocked — and steamed — over a recent tabloid cover story claiming that fame has “destroyed her life.” So, how did you feel when you saw that fake tabloid headline?
What really hurt me was the title — because I have not been destroyed by fame whatsoever. So, when I saw the magazine, I was like, “What?” Sure, the show has brought fame into my life, and I’m grateful. I’ve met so many talented people; I get to be part of so many award presentations and other events. It’s so much fun. Of course, fame has its up and downs, but at the end of the day, I know who I am. My family and friends tell me I haven’t changed a bit.
That cover story also mentioned drugs; casual readers could take it to mean you’re a user.
No, I don’t do drugs.
According to the article, you’ve replaced insecurities about your body with arrogance. Is that true?
Yeah, it says according to “a pal,” I think I have a “bangin’ body.” [Laughs] Who is this so-called pal? I’m the last person ever to say those things about myself. I don’t go around bragging. I grew up by the beach, in Orange County, always by the pool and in the sun. I’m always the first one to get into a bathing suit and not even think twice because I just don’t care about what other people think. This is me and, like, whatever.
It really does seem like you’re grounded.
I have my crazy L.A. life, but as soon as the cameras are done, I go back to my real, balanced life. When I’m done filming a scene, I always call my mom or my sister and vent, or just talk. I’m very close to my family; I speak to my parents two or three times a day.
And Ryan’s part of your support system.
Yes, I’m really blessed to have him in my life. He’s just unlike any guy I’ve ever dated; it just feels so natural and so right. When we’re together, all the rumors and gossip, it’s the last thing on my mind.

Whitney Port on Whitney Eve
StyleList: What's the inspiration for the second season?
Whitney Port: I combined my Los Angeles aesthetic and my New York aesthetic. I wanted to keep femininity, but mix it with a New York, streety edge. I played a lot with textures and classic silhouettes. There's a lot of sparkle and a lot of sequins – she's a glamorous rock-and-roll chick.
SL: You've been living in Manhattan for two years. What's your take on East Coast versus West Coast style?
WP: I think it's a lot more fashion forward here. Whereas New York is trendsetting, LA is trendy. New York is such a melting pot of cultures. Style is influenced by the world here, as opposed to the beachy vibe you get in Los Angeles.
SL: You've worked your way around the fashion industry, haven't you?
WP: I started at WWD as an intern, then I went to Teen Vogue and worked there as a fashion contributor, then to People's Revolution to do fashion PR, and then to Diane von Furstenberg. I decided that after all of those avenues, design was what I wanted to do and invested in myself and started this project.
SL: You called it a project.
WP: I kind of looked at it at first as an art project, just like a fun hobby, which is what I think a job should be. I started sourcing fabrics and making things that were pretty and beautiful that I would wear, and wasn't so savvy about the business of it. It's difficult – you do what you love and don't necessarily think of the business side of it. It's taken a bunch of people to reign me in, making it more affordable and accessible.
SL: So do you have any fashion regrets?
WP: The only thing that sticks out is this bright orange, kind of balloony, long-sleeve dress I wore that was forced on me, in a way. I wasn't strong enough to push back at that point. I've matured a little bit since then.

Kelly Bensimon and Jay Lyon: Getting Cozy
Lower East Side club the Eldridge turned into a literal "hot" spot during its Cinco de Mayo party after the air conditioner broke during Run-D.M.C. member Reverend Run's DJ set. "It got really sweaty inside," says a guest. "People were stripping down and getting half naked to keep cool." Cuddling in the corner drinking beer were "Real Housewives" star Kelly Bensimon (RHONY)and Whitney Port's ex-boyfriend, singer Jay Lyon.
