Don't look now, but Kristin Cavallari totally drank the crazy punch.
We met up with The Hills understudy star last night at the Rock the Kasbah charity gala in Hollywood, and she insisted that The Hills "is the No. 1 show and we are doing really well."
We hate to be the bearer of bad news, but The Hills' ratings are most assuredly down this season, by an average of more than 30 percent overall. (The season started out weak with 2.1 million and sank to 1.72 million last Tuesday.) Still, when asked about the lower ratings, Kristin insisted: "No, they are not! We had one drop because of the Hip Hop awards on VH1, but then they went up the next week."
Whatever helps you sleep through the night, sweet girl! (Hopefully without Justin Bobby.)
In recent weeks, The Hills' ratings drop has received quite a lot of press, with many critics blaming Kristin's replacement of Lauren Conrad for the dip. Kristin calls that assertion unfair...
"At the end of the day it's not up to me to make a great TV show," she told us. "It's the whole crew, the whole cast. It's not just on me. I think to put all that pressure on me is pretty unfair."
To her credit, she has a point. Clearly the producers need to come up with better storylines than the so-forced, fake love triangle they tried to create with Kristin, Audrina Patrige and Justin. And let's face it, MTV. The world is So. Over. Speidi.
As for the upcoming drama with Brody and Jayde, K.C. said: "It is what it is. I think it gets a little old for everyone after a while, but if you are going to film a reality show you gotta talk about it."
