Kristin Cavallari "Really Impressed" With Heidi Pratt's Pageant Performance

Kristin Cavallari is a big fan of Heidi Pratt's Sunday night Miss Universe performance.
"I was really impressed," the Hills star told Usmagazine.com at a Nylon magazine party in West Hollywood Monday night. "It reminded me of Britney Spears at the VMAs -- whatever year that was -- when she ripped off her suit and was, like, nude with sparkles. She kind of looked like that."
Spears stripped down to a sparkly nude suit at the 2000 MTV VMAs for her performance of "Oops, I Did It Again." Montag -- who has said she wants to have a similar career as the singer -- showed off a sequin bra and matching nude pants for "Body Language."
Cavallari continued: "She looked like she'd put a lot of hard work into it, and it paid off."
Cavallari also dished on the next season of The Hills, which premieres Sept. 29 on MTV.
"There's going to be a little feud between Audrina [Patridge] and me over Justin [Bobby], a little love triangle," she said. "I like to have fun with it and play everything up. I mean, you've got to keep it interesting."

Lauren Conrad’s Fashion and Style Secrets

*******updated 8/26*******
Click here to see Lauren's complete shape interview with scans

Shape magazine just shot a fashion feature with Lauren Conrad and Couture In The City thought we would share her style secrets with our readers. Check out these tips she offered Shape’s readers.
Lauren Conrad’s so stoked about her new fashion collection for Kohl’s, she took three lucky Shape readers shopping! From masterfully draped blouses to butt-enhancing skinny jeans, Lauren Conrad’s chic yet super affordable clothing line for Kohl’s, LC Lauren Conrad, has something for everyone. “It’s all about finding silhouettes that highlight the best parts of your figure,” says Lauren. To prove her point, she selected outfits for three women with very different body types—and shared some get-dressed tips we all can use.

pear shape
Lauren’s figure-flattering strategies
Put the focus on a flat tummy or small waist by choosing fitted jackets and belted dresses.
Conceal wider hips with a longer-length tee or tunic that skims your mid-section.
Opt for patterned or embellished tops to divert attention away from fuller hips and thighs.
Make legs look longer and leaner with simple, solid-hue trousers and dark-wash jeans.
Add width to your shoulders (and balance your bottom half) with soft flutter sleeves.

apple shape
Lauren’s figure-flattering strategies
Flaunt long legs and shapely ankles with slim-fitting cigarette pants and capris.
Balance a thicker middle by highlighting arms with a halter top or strappy dress.
Consider an Empire-waist dress, which gives your torso a more elongated appearance.
Choose flowy, hip-skimming tops to camouflage a fuller tummy without adding bulk.
Draw attention to your lower body with eye-catching heels.

petite shape
Lauren’s figure-flattering strategies
Create a more feminine silhouette by teaming a voluminous top with a more fitted bottom half.
Cheat a waistline by cinching a belt in a contrasting color over a narrow sheath dress.
Keep accessories in proportion; delicate bags and necklaces won’t overwhelm a small frame.
Hem your pants on the longer side and pair them with sky-high platforms to add inches.
Amplify curves with tops that have texture, like a ruffled neckline or ruching at the waist.

MTV branches out from 'The Hills' style reality TV with new shows

MTV may have stuck with shows like "The Hills" just a little too long, according to network president Tony DiSanto.
"I think, when things start working, it is a temptation to do more of the same," DiSanto told the Daily News on Monday.
And MTV did, putting a large bet on "The Hills" and similiar shows like "The City," at the expense of other formats. While the shows drew large audiences, and loads of tabloid magazine buzz, the network sort of got stuck in a programming rut.
"What we have to do at MTV is we almost have to force ourselves to pull the rug out from underneath us," DiSanto said. "We might have fed on the success of certain formats for a hair too long, and done too much of them."
So, the network has been in an expansion mode of late. Monday, the announced it would develop a U.S. version of the British hit "Skins," a scripted drama about a group of teenagers. And previously, the network announced of a handful of other new shows in the works, including a scripted comedy and a different twist on a variety show.
DiSanto's not giving up on "The Hills" just yet. A new season starts next month with former "Laguna Beach" breakout Kristin Cavallari being the focal point, filling a space open when Lauren Conrad left.
"I consider this next season with Kristin Cavallari almost a restart," DiSanto said. "If it works, who knows? If it doesn't, maybe 'The Hills' stops working."
MTV isn't getting out of the reality business, either. Instead, its mixing up the kinds of realities it presents.
For instance, Thursday night marks the relaunch of the network's "guy block" of reality shows geared for action fans, and includes the second season of skateboard legend "Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory" (9 p.m.), the reality show "Bully Beatdown" (9:30) and Travis Pastrana's motocross stunt show, "Nitro Circus" (10), along with the launch of "Pranked" (10:30), a new show made up of pranks captured on video.
Previously, the male-skewing shows aired on Sundays.
DiSanto said the move was an effort to get the shows away from football on Sundays and into slots where they might draw a bigger audience.
"They all have a similarity in tone, the same attitude and feel of rebellion," DiSanto said. He cited the aspirational aspects of Pastrana's show, in which the rider and crew try new stunts.
The Thursday shows are part of the network's new programming approach, DiSanto said.
"These shows, to me, feel part of the new MTV," DiSanto said.
"I really think it's about creative diversity," he said. "People expect MTV to be reinventive. Reality is not an ownable space anymore. I think we've got to add a lot more stuff to stay alive."

Doug Reinhardt rejected by 'The Hills'

Looks like Doug Reinhardt is regretting Paris Hilton talking smack about 'The Hills' back in May. Much like he crawled back to Paris, he's crawling back to his old stomping grounds who want nothing to do with him. And he works for free. Page Six reports:
Cast members of MTV's "The Hills" were overheard recently at Harrah's Resort in Atlantic City "laughing about how Doug can't get a part on the show," said our source. "He's been begging MTV producers for a contract." Unlike cast members who are paid per episode, Reinhardt makes cameo appearances for free. "Doug keeps calling MTV, but they don't want him," said the source.
Wow. Just to put things in perspective, MTV pays Heidi and Spencer money to appear on their show, but Doug Reinhardt can't even get an unpaid walk-on. Ouch.

LOL!!

Aubrey O'Day vs. Heidi Montag Pratt

Heidi couldn't be happier with how her Playboy spread turned out. (Girl's even taken to carrying the mag with her wherever she goes!) But fellow MTV star and Playboy vet Aubrey O'Day saysthat Heidi's pics were a total snoozefest. At least, compared to her own provocative peepshow.
"I don't know, I think [my pics are] still the winner," O'Day said of Heidi's spread. "You know, you can take a million pretty pictures," she told MTV News, "but it's like: Which pictures are really going to stand out and be iconic, and which pictures are just pretty pictures that are here today, gone tomorrow?" (Watch out, Heids -- dem's catfightin' words!)

Big Changes Coming on 'The Hills' and 'The City'

Expect big changes when new episodes of The Hills and The City start up again on Sept. 29, moving from Monday nights to Tuesdays. The Hills will air at 10 p.m. (EST) followed by The City at 10:30 p.m. (EST).

Liz Gateley, senior vice president of series development for MTV and executive producer of both shows, tells PEOPLE that the new day is the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the switch-ups.
Most notably, Kristin Cavallari has replaced Lauren Conrad on The Hills. “Kristin has brought new life to the show,” Gateley says. “She is the same Kristin we know and love — not afraid to mix things up. Her presence has really changed every dynamic within the cast, especially with Audrina [Patridge] and Justin Bobby.”
As for newlyweds Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, Gateley says they may be taking another big step in their relationship. “Heidi and Spencer are entering some interesting new territory of considering parenthood,” she says.
Over on the East Coast, Whitney Port may not be considering motherhood, but she will be dealing with a new boss.
“A lot has changed in The City,” Gateley says. “We shifted the focus of the show significantly from a relationship drama to a workplace drama. Olivia has a new job and an amazing new boss at Elle magazine. Whitney is focused a lot more on her work now that she’s single, and Kelly Cutrone — who I love — takes on a much bigger role in the show.”
But the focus on fashion remains the same. “The show feels much more like a reality Devil Wears Prada,” Gateley says. “Our whole shooting style changed. You’ll see much more action and less people sitting and talking, which was an intentional choice we made in making over the show. There are fireworks on the jobs constantly — it’s very exciting and fun to watch what it’s like to work in the world of New York fashion.”

Brody Jenner and Jayde Nicole - shopping in Hollywood 8/24

Looking to enhance their technological resources, Brody Jenner and Jayde Nicole were spotted shopping at the Apple Store in Hollywood August 24.
Brody and his lady were all smiles as the strolled past the paparazzi arm-in-arm, looking very much in love.
Just a few days earlier, Brody found himself in the hospital, undergoing surgery for appendicitis. His rep told press, “Brody Jenner unfortunately spent the morning of his 26th Birthday having his appendix removed.”
“He is resting with family and friends and is expected to have a speedy recovery,” the rep continued. And judging from the fact that he was up and around yesterday, it seems his recovery was rapid indeed.

It is so great to see Brody up and about again!!

Stephanie Pratt on the Alexa Chung Show 8/24

Remember that cringe-worthy episode of The Hills in which Kelly Cutrone a.k.a. Scary Boss Lady invited Stephanie Pratt to People's Rev for an internship interview ... and then quickly proceeded to skewer her like a shrimp kabob? Of course you do, that moment was hard to forget. And if your memory is as clear as ours, you'll recall that Cutrone tested Steph's proficient French skills (as stated on her resume) with some unreciprocated parlez vousing.
Well, during today's It's On with Alexa Chung, Steph made a point of admitting that she's actually more well-versed in 'Franglais,' an English and French hybrid that's commonly used by natives of France. Yet when put to the test by the show's practically fluent host, Pratt barely got a word in edgewise. Foiled again! Check out the entire interview to hear Stephanie come thisclose to proving she's a Franglais expert, plus get her reaction to Heidi's Miss Universe Pageant performance and the new division between the female cast of The Hills (to be witnessed on the much-anticipated Sept. 29 premiere!)

Audrina Patridge blogs about her weekend

What a rocking weekend!!
Me and my baby sis had a spa day and got her hair done - she looks fabulous! Then I hit the road for KROQ's Epicenter Festival at the Fairplex in Pomona. There was sooo much traffic! But, we made it on time to see all of my favorite bands! Tool is one of my all time faves, but Linkin Park, Alice in Chains and Wolfmother blew me away! I love rock concerts! The energy is so intense! Can't wait to go to another one! Here is a blurry photo of me having too much fun with my honey Corey!
