Olivia Palermo & Johannes Huebl: Out & About in NYC

Spotted: Olivia Palermo and her model beau Johannes Huebl strolling around Soho on Thursday, April 5, 2012.
Olivia recently revealed to In Touch magazine that she doesn't believe in only buying clothes and wearing it for that particular season. Instead, Olivia likes to be creative with her wardrobe and mix and match old items with new.
"Style is about taking individual pieces and reworking them," she explained.
Olivia believes that you can take something as ordinary as a pair of favourite jeans and wear them in lots of different ways. The fashionista added that putting together an ensemble that can take you from dawn to dusk is a must.
"Something great for day can always be dressed up for evening!"

Catching Up with Samantha Swetra Of 'The City'

Long before Whitney Port made a habit of showing her designs at New York Fashion Week, she was a SoCal girl struggling to acclimate to her new home in The City. Luckily, when the chill of Manhattan seemed like too much to bear, the "Hills" export found a good friend in Sami Swetra, who shared her passion for fashion and was never not smiling.
Swetra, who worked at Bergdorf Goodman when we saw her last, was a consummate source of relationship advice for Whit and helped the newbie cement her status as a New Yorker by taking her to get her first pair of big-brand shoes. Since the show, she's swept up a spot as an executive at a luxury retailer and is navigating a long-term relationship with a Frenchman! Ah, metropolis...
Read what Sami told Remote Control below, check out her Wear The Wild blog for some insider style musings and follow her on Twitter for a first-person account of NYC fashion!
What was your personal path like to New York?
I came from a small town in New Jersey and always dreamed of living in New York City. I worked my ass off in high school to get to New York, then worked my ass off in college to land myself a position at Bergdorf, and voila--it all payed off!
The "Weekend at Freddie’s" debacle was one of MTV's best awkward moments--was it really as cringe-worthy as it seemed?
Oh, my God--you have no idea. The 10 minutes you saw made it look bearable compared to how it really was! But looking back at it now it's very amusing, and at the end of the day, Freddie is still one of my super close friends. He's the guy I call for advice!
We saw you champion Whitney and see her through some firsts in New York--her first pair of Manolos, her first big meeting with a buyer... What have been some of your exciting "New York" firsts?
I've been here for eight years, and there are so many. New York is a place where anything can happen! I, too, bought my first pair of designer shoes here. Then later met the designer, Giuseppe Zanotti, and went to dinner with him and his team. I met my first New York boyfriend on the subway after getting on the wrong bound train. I had sushi for my first time and I shared a bedroom for the first time (not in the boyfriend way...).
The last time we saw you, Roxy was crashing on your couch while moving out of her shared apartment with Whitney. What have you been up to since "The City" career-wise? In your personal life? Do you still keep in touch with any of the girls?
I'm currently an account executive at Roberto Cavalli. I learned so much from my experience at Bergdorf--that job dovetailed very nicely into my new position. I'm a really hands-on type of person so being around the clothing all day suits me.
I have the same group of friends that I had while filming "The City." I live with my French boyfriend of a little more than a year, and I've been slowly but surely learning French for him (I mean me...)! As far as Whit and I go, she's still a very close friend! Anytime we're in the same city, we make sure we fit in a date night. Roxy and I still keep in touch, and the last time I saw her was maybe seven months ago in London. Whit was with us, too. Then there's Freddie who's like a brother to me!
What's next for you?
Well, my new job at Cavalli is really the perfect fit for me and the right direction for my career path. I wanted to relay the knowledge I gained from Bergdorf over to the wholesale side of the business. Also, my blog "Wear The Wild" shows a little piece of my life. Styling is my passion, and after "The City," I wanted people to see what I was up to.
What advice would you give someone who wants to move to New York and get into fashion?
I would tell them to just do it! Where there's a will, there's a way. Also, always keep in mind that it's a very small industry, so refrain from pissing someone off!

Lauren Conrad: I Don't Talk to Heidi Montag Anymore

By Zach Johnson
Lauren Conrad can forgive, but she can't forget.
"I don't talk to Heidi [Montag]," The Hills alum, 26, tells the new issue of Us Weekly (out Friday). "I still hang out with Stephanie [Pratt] a lot. I run into the other girls and say hi, but everyone is so busy doing their own thing. It's nice to see them every once in a while."
Conrad, who's promoting the release of her new novel, The Fame Game, says that while she's "grateful" for her time on MTV, she's happy "not being filmed all the time."
"I miss a lot of people that I got to work with, though. I had such a nice experience with everyone," Conrad explains. "I still keep in touch with a lot of the people from production and people I got to work with. I miss seeing them every day, but I'm happier now."
Would Conrad ever consider doing a reality TV show again?
"Never say never, but as of now, I'm not currently looking to be on television. I think I'm in a good place where I'm very busy and I'm very fortunate to be able to do a lot of things that I really enjoy doing. Maybe someday."

Lauren Conrad's 'Fame Game' Book Signing in Boston, Massachusetts

Spotted: Lauren Conrad at Barnes & Noble in Boston, Maassachusettes signing copies of her lastest book 'The Fame Game."
Meanwhile, legions of die-hard fans waited hours in line to meet LC at the event. Ankita Patel and Amanda Guilmette (pictured above), both students in Boston, waited almost six hours in line to have an up-close-and-personal meeting with "The Hills" star.
In other LC news, The 26-year-old fashion designer turned author recently revealed that she would never have cosmetic surgery because she prefers the ''natural'' look.
She said: ''Personally, I have always preferred a more natural look. That is what is more attractive to me, but it's up to each person. As long as you are doing it for you, because you want to look nice and that's the result you are going for, then that's fine.''
However Lauren - who has now written her first book 'The Fame Game' - admits she does feel under pressure to always look her best because she is always in the spotlight.
She added in an interview with Look magazine: ''There is always pressure to work out a little harder when all eyes are on you. I don't think I ever felt the pressure as much as some people, but it was definitely at the back of my mind.''

Q & A With 'The Fame Game' Author Lauren Conrad

Lauren was spotted out and about in NYC on April 5, 2012.

Below check out this terrific interview Lauren did with Novel Novice.
We all know that your L.A. Candy and now The Fame Game series — though fictional — were inspired at least in part by your own experiences with reality TV, namely MTV’s “Laguna Beach” and “The Hills.” In some way, do you view the books as a sort of Hollywood cautionary tale?
I don’t think so. I think it’s more of a story that just gives people a sneak peek behind the curtains of Hollywood.
A lot of readers have likened your L.A. Candy character, Jane Roberts, to a fictionalized version of yourself. Did you feel any freedom getting away from that character and focusing on Madison for The Fame Game?
I don’t think so. I think it has the same backdrop as the first series, and all these characters live in the same world. But I had told Jane Roberts’ story, so it was time to tell a new one. And it was really fun because I got to tell it from a completely different point of view.
What was the most fun part of exploring Madison’s character separate from the L.A. Candy storyline?
I think it was just getting into the head of someone who is just shameless with their own publicity and image.
A lot of your former co-stars have gone on to careers in film and television, but you’ve gone the other direction — focusing on fashion and your writing. What made you go in that direction?
As far as fashion, that’s something that I always wanted to do since I was young, so that was just a career path that I’d been on for so long. Writing was something that I had always really enjoyed doing, but growing up I had this idea in my head that I had to pick one. So the fact that I got to do both and still do, has been really great.
When you’re done with The Fame Game series, do you have any thoughts on exploring a new book or series separate from that world?
I don’t know, to be honest, since I just started doing it again. It’s a little overwhelming to think of going beyond that. One of the nice things about these books is it’s just easier to write about a world you’re more familiar with. You write what you know. I think this is just, as far as filling in little details, and just knowing little things you would only know if you were there, it’s just easier that way.
A lot of authors have certain “required” things they need when they’re writing. My friend Suzanne needs candy corn. I know Kami Garcia needs her diet Coke. Do you have any writing must-haves?
That’s so funny … Not really, I mean, maybe caffeine. I usually, when I’m working on the books, it’s in my bed, late at night. But I don’t really have any strange habits that I like to do.
Your Style Guide also just came out in paperback, and it provides lots of timeless fashion advice. But a lot of your readers are teens or young women, and are on tight budgets. What sort of budget-friendly advice do you have for being stylish on a tight budget?
I think it’s just to invest in classic pieces. Whether it’s a really great shoe that I get re-soled once a year, or a really nice bag I bought myself. I have certain pieces that were more expensive, but I wear them throughout the season. I think when it comes to trendier pieces, that’s where you go the more budget-friendly option.
Your L.A. Candy and Fame Game books are now part of this booming world of YA lit. Are there any books out there right now that you’re hooked on?
The last book that I read was The Hunger Games, so, everyone’s read that recently. I wanted to read it before I saw the movie. I really liked that, I’m actually in the middle of the second one.
That segues perfectly into my next question, which is about The Hunger Games. Obviously, it’s huge right now. Author Suzanne Collins has said she was partly inspired to write the books because of the blurring lines between reality and television. Many have even called her books a critique, in part, of reality TV. Having been a part of reality TV yourself, what are your thoughts on that approach?
Well, I think it’s a very extreme example. I just see where some people could think that, because you’re sort of entertained by other people’s pain, and I think that happens sometime in reality television. But I think the biggest difference is, when you’re on reality television, you’ve signed up for the experience. But in The Hunger Games, they’re just selecting people.
Is there anything you miss about being on TV regularly?
Really, the only thing that I miss is the people that I got to work with. That was really fun. It was fun to go to work everyday and be with really good friends. But as far as the lifestyle, and the way it affected not just me, but the other people in my life, I don’t really miss that part of it.
Private concert: who’s playing?
Oh gosh. Ooh. I’m so bad at this because I don’t really have a favorite band. Most of the time I’m seeing music it’s because my roommate just dragged me to a random show, because she goes to shows every other night.
Pizza toppings?
I usually do veggie pizza, so lots of different vegetables.
Is there a book you can’t stop re-reading?
Not really, no. I mean, the only book that I’ve ever done that with is The Great Gatsby, but I’ve only read it a couple times. I think I always prefer to read something new, there’s just so many great books out there.
Living or dead, who would you like to have dinner with.
Oh, these are good questions, I wish I had good answers. Living or dead? You know, I think it would be Coco Chanel. I think that she was just such an amazing woman and she pioneered so many important trends in fashion that are still in use today.
Perfect vacation?
Perfect vacation is probably Cabo. I love going to Cabo, that’s my favorite place to go to.
You’re on book tour now, so what is one best and one worst thing about being on book tour?
The best thing is getting the opportunity to meet all the people that are buying the book and speak with them. It’s such an amazing experience, I love the experience. And the worst part is, I am so tired!

Olivia Palermo & Johannes Huebl Attend The After Party For HBO's 'Girls'

Olivia Palermo confirmed that light denim, usually reserved for more casual looks, can also work on the red carpet when she styled hers with a sparkling sequin blazer at the HBO premiere of Girls. The fashion-forward beauty layered her gray sequin topper over a white silk blouse and cuffed denim skinnies, then slid on a pair of colorful cap-toe pumps for instant glam. Glistening diamond stud earrings, a gold caged bracelet, and a blue ostrich bag rounded out her polished look perfectly. To dress up your light denim, style it with a sequin jacket like Olivia did, or work your blazer with dark denim for a less casual approach to this fabulous look.

The 26-year-old author/designer, wearing a flowy Heartloom dress & Casadei heels, recently caught up with ET Canada where she dished on main character Madison.
“Madison is definitely meant to be a sharp tongued type of person that does exist in Hollywood – and there’s lots of them, but no, but I definitely wasn’t basing her on a specific person,” Lauren shared about speculation Madison was based off of Heidi Montag.

Lauren Conrad: More Photos From New York City

Lauren Conrad was spotted leaving her hotel in NYC on Tuesday, April 3.
In other LC news, Lauren did a great interview with Sara Gaynes at the Charlotte Observer. Check it out below.
Herald: There are so many references to the TV industry in the book (including a character who is an actor on a series called "Boston General"). How do you find inspiration for these?
Conrad: Being in the business for years, you see so many things. After spending several years in L.A., they start to feel normal, and then you'll come home for a weekend and you'll tell your parents what happened and they think what any normal person would think: It's crazy! But you become immune to it. What I did is I started to take notes and I'm so glad I did because I use them all the time. ... I would sometimes sit down with my editor and she would say, "I don't know if this is believable," and I would say, "But it really happened!"
As with any celebrity-written novel, there's always talk that it wasn't you who wrote it. How do you respond to that?
You have to take it as it comes. I take it as a compliment. When they tell you they didn't think you could do it, you prove you can. ... I really wanted to get younger girls to read. I remember never wanting to read growing up, but there were a few (books) that I could really get lost in. If you can ever get a young person to pick up a book and read it, that's great.
What can your fans expect from the tour?
I love the signings. I think that's one of the most fun parts -- meeting the people that are gonna read it! It's such a great opportunity to sign books and talk with all the girls.
What else is coming up in your life?
I'm working on the second book in the "Fame Game" series and that's taking up most of my time. I'm also still working on my two lines: I'm designing spring right now for Paper Crown and I'm also working with a brand called Blue Avocado and we're coming out with grocery, lunch and beauty bags, and they're all made from reclaimed plastic. It's been a really great experience with them.
When you have a month like mine you try not to look too far ahead, but I broke up this tour so I'm gone for a few weeks and then I'm home on the weekends. And then I'm gonna get to go to Coachella (music festival). I don't know what I'm going to wear though -- I have to shop online while I'm on tour!
