Lauren Conrad & Lea Michele Dish on Their Dads & How They Got Their Amazing Bodies
Fashion designer Lauren Conrad and Glee star Lea Michele have more in common than being small screen sirens: both their fathers struggled with their famous daughters stripping down for magazine covers!“Oh, I died for your Glamour shoot,” Lea, 25, gushed to Lauren, 26, during an exclusive interview with Celebuzz at the LACOSTE L!VE desert pool party in Palm Springs, Calif., on April 14 — an event part of the Coachella festivities.
Whilst both dishing about how they get their amazing bodies, Lea — who plays Rachel Berry on the hit Fox show — paused to compliment The Hills star on her recent topless cover.
“The inside shots are so beautiful,” Lea said.
“Thank you!” replied Lauren sweetly, before confessing: “My dad’s not so thrilled about it!”
Lea, who in the past has appeared in GQ and Britain’s Marie Claire, found herself in the same position.
Her dad, delicatessen owner Marc Sarfati, and Lauren’s father Jim Conrad, an architect, found looking at their scantily-clad children a tough task, both revealed in the middle of our exclusive chat — which become more of a back-and-forth between the small screen stars and pals!
“When I did GQ, my dad wasn’t so thrilled either,” said Lea, giggling, as she tried to reassure Lauren, who complimented her pal right back.
“I even told my mom (Kathy) not to tell him!” Lauren responded. “That was my only thing. When I did it I was like, ‘Don’t tell dad!’”
But despite having bared more than most cover girls, the pair was modest about their sexy magazine spreads.
Lea told Lauren: “You’re looked like Bridget Bardot! I felt like it was so sexy. When I was reading it in public, I had to hide it. I was reading it at the airport (and I had to) fold it back because I felt uncomfortable!”
“So did I!” Lauren confessed, adding: “I’ve been traveling a lot so I run by them every time I see it at an airport!”
So how do they get their amazing bodies? The pair revealed their “life changing” secret to Celebuzz at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, Calif. at the weekend.“Read Skinny Bitch!” Conrad confessed in an exclusive interview at the LACOSTE L!VE desert pool party, during our joint interview.
“Oh my god,” Lea interjected. “Give me a high-five. Didn’t it change your life?!”
“It scared the s–t out of me!” the former The Hills star told Lea. ”Everything you eat you’re like, ‘Oh, God I know what’s in that now.’ It’s just informing you about what’s in your food.”
“Exactly,” added Lea. “When you read the book, you’re like ‘Oh, it’s just going to be all about being skinny,’ but it’s not at all. What I love about the book is that it’s just the hard core truth. Seriously, it changed my life.”

Lauren Conrad: "I Blushed When I Saw" Topless Glamour Cover
Fans weren't the only ones surprised to see Lauren Conrad topless on the cover of Glamour's May issue!
When Conrad spoke to MTV News at her Fame Game book signing in NYC Tuesday, the 26-year-old admitted she didn't think that would be the most talked-about shot. "There's a lot of me on there! Listen, that was a surprise to me," she laughed. "That was supposed to be a very small inside shot, and I saw the cover, and I was like, 'Oh my!' I blushed when I saw it. I was like, 'That is a lot of me!'"
"I didn't know that was going to be the cover. But that's how it works with magazines: If you take a photo, there's always that chance. But, no, I did not expect that to be the cover."
Conrad also posed in a white bikini top for Glamour -- something she typically shies away from. "On the vacation to Cabo, I wore a bathing suit on the beach for the first time in years. Usually I'm just petrified," she told the magazine. "A couple of years ago someone zoomed in on my cellulite and it was so mean. I took it really personally. I haven't worn a bathing suit in L.A. in years because of that."The Hills alum doesn't regret agreeing to take her top off for the magazine, telling MTV News: "You know what? Why not [do it] when you're young," she said. "Forty years from now, I'll be not looking like that. Might as well!"

Lauren Conrad Poses For Glamour - May 2012 Issue
Lauren Conrad is really baring it all for Glamour. The Cali girl appears topless and poolside on the cover of the mag’s May issue, which also happens to be their swimsuit issue (so we guess that explains why she’s wearing one half of a bikini…)Highlights from Miss Conrad's interview are as follows. For more, be sure to pay a visit to Glamour!
On body image:
“On the vacation to Cabo, I wore a bathing suit on the beach for the first time in years. Usually I’m just petrified. A couple of years ago someone zoomed in on my cellulite and it was so mean. I took it really personally. I haven’t worn a bathing suit in L.A. in years because of that.” She adds, “I haven’t met a woman without insecurities. You just have to learn to play up the positives.”
On her dating life:
“I wish I dated as much as people thought I did! It’s really funny because almost everyone that I’m reportedly 'dating' is a friend of mine. About half my friends are guys, and I’ve always gotten along really well with guys. You just have to laugh at it.” She adds, “I feel like most guys aren’t reading Us Weekly. Anyway, it’s not bad if somebody links you to one of your friends. For me, it serves as a distraction from my actual dating life. I can go and date people and not be bothered!”
On her friendships on The Hills:
“The show is what brought a lot of us together, and when it was gone, we didn’t have anything in common anymore.”
On what really happened on the reality TV sets:
“During shooting, the producers would send us quick text messages telling us what to talk about. They couldn’t walk through the shot, so they’d just text me, like, ‘Say something quick about this story line.’ That’s why we were always checking our phones!”
On what keeps her grounded:
“For me, the best way to stay grounded is to surround myself with friends and family who knew me way back when. There’s nothing like cleaning my mom’s dishes or taking out the trash to remind me that I’m no different than anyone else.”

Lauren Conrad's Dos and Don'ts for Glamour Magazine

DO go with head-to-toe black if you don’t have a lot of time to get ready.
I’ll do a banded skirt with a tee, or leather skinnies and a blazer. It’s very chic, and it will always match.

DON’T get frustrated with friends after their breakups.
As silly as it seems when she’s still crying a month later, be there for her, preferably with frozen yogurt and romantic comedies, because someday it will be you

DO google your dates.
It’s like doing research before a job interview!

DON’T shop online after a few glasses of wine.
I will get things shipped to me, and I’m like, What was I thinking?! But that crazy printed caftan seemed stylish to me at 11:30 on a Thursday night.

DON’T obsess over hair color.
I dyed my hair so it’s dark at the roots and light at the tips because I like it, but also because I’m bad at keeping up with my color.

DO know that accessories make an outfit.
You can be wearing something simple, but put on some costume jewels, a fake-skin clutch and great heels, and you’re dressed up.

DON’T waste your time on people who aren’t kind to you.
In the long run karma always comes into play, and if you just take the high road, you’ll be fine.
