Lauren Conrad’s New Life Away From The Cameras

Lauren Conrad has settled into her life away from the cameras. After five years and two reality shows she says, “I work for me now.”
“I’m really enjoying it,” the former ‘Hills‘ star remarked about life without a reality show. “My personal life is now my personal life now, which is nice.”
Conrad spoke to us while she and several other volunteers spent this past Saturday cleaning up Santa Monica Beach as part of “Coastal Cleanup Day.” She was also there to celebrate her partnership on a clothing line “LC Lauren Conrad” with Kohl’s, which launches on Oct. 1.
On her partnership with the department store, Conrad says she’s excited, “It’s great to be able to do a line and make it accessible everywhere and make it affordable. It was just a really great fit. It’s a California line so it’s going to be that whole look. We have dresses, chiffon flowing tops, sweater blazers, just lots of variety.”
Coming back from a busy trip to New York, Conrad made appearances at Phillip Lim fashion show during New York’s Fashion Week and presented at both MTV’s ‘Video Music Awards’ and ‘VH1 Divas Live.’ But there’s one show you won’t see her on: ‘The City.’ Conrad said she only hangs out with pal Whitney Port off-camera.
She did, however, have a stint as a guest judge on ‘America’s Next Top Model.’ Conrad gushed about host Tyra Banks, “She’s so inspiring. She does it all. She does it well, and she carries herself very well.”
With her second book, a follow up to New York Times Best seller “LA Candy” called “Sweet Little Lies” hitting the shelves next February, Conrad revealed she’s keeping busy by working on a third.

Television Gets a Double Dose of Drama as MTV's Hit Series 'The Hills' and 'The City' Move to Tuesday Nights

Tuesday night television is about to get a double dose of drama as MTV's hit series "The Hills" and "The City" prepare to dominate cable on a new night. Premiering Tuesday, September 29th, the two reality series MTV fans can't live without will air back-to-back for the first time with "The Hills" Season Five, Part Two at 10p.m. ET/PT and "The City" Season One, Part Two at 10:30p.m. ET/PT. Each running for 10 all-new episodes, the conflict continues on both shows as "Laguna Beach" alum Kristin Cavallari joins the cast of "The Hills" while on "The City," Whitney Port and Olivia Palermo embark on new career paths in fashion. As Whitney and Olivia begin working for Kelly Cutrone's People's Revolution and ELLE Magazine, respectively, they are joined by new cast members Roxy Olin and Erin Kaplan. With a new night, new drama and new people, one thing is clear: the next chapters for both shows are a whole new world.
When Season Five of "The Hills" returns the tension picks up right where it left off, and while Lauren Conrad may have left the tumult behind - there's one person primed to take over her TV dominion. Since Heidi and Spencer's wedding, Lauren's nemesis from high school, Kristin Cavallari, is back on the scene and she's not going anywhere. Having nearly conquered LA, she has yet to find one person to share her success with and when she crosses paths with Justin - Bobby, sparks fly.
With a new man in her life, Audrina seems to have moved on from Justin, but that doesn't mean she's ready to see him with another girl - especially if it's Lauren's oldest rival Kristin. Meanwhile, Brody is still one-half of a happy couple with his Playboy Playmate girlfriend Jayde but their relationship may not be able withstand his ex, Kristin. Finally, Heidi and Spencer are moving to suburbia to begin a life of wedded bliss but they quickly discover that married life won't be as perfect as their storybook wedding.

When "The City" Season One resumes, it's back to work for the cast and with new jobs, new boys, new friends and New York in the mix, anything can happen. When Whitney moved from LA to New York City she was a girl who had it all: the job, the friends, the boyfriend and the apartment. In New York though, things can change overnight and now, in "The City" everything is different. Whitney decides to take a chance at her dream of becoming a designer and leaves her position at Diane von Furstenberg to work under the critical eye of Kelly Cutrone at People's Revolution. As she hits the ground running as part of Kelly's PR and events staff, Whitney looks to Kelly for direction as she develops her own designs.
Meanwhile, Olivia Palermo has wasted no time parlaying her promotion at Diane von Furstenberg into a new position at ELLE Magazine. Offered a spot in the Accessories department by Joe Zee, ELLE's Creative Director, Olivia's partnered with the magazine's PR Director Erin Kaplan - a young, ambitious upstart who could bring her meteoric rise to a screeching halt.
Whitney is single, dating and settling into a new place in the West Village, but before she can get too comfortable her high school friend Roxy Olin from LA shows up needing a place to crash. While Roxy looks for a job, Whitney manages to get Roxy a position working alongside her at People's Revolution where she quickly inserts herself in the middle of Whitney's dream of becoming a designer. Not content to stay on the sidelines of Whitney's life, Roxy butts heads with Kelly Cutrone who wonders if Roxy will ultimately help or hurt Whitney's career.

Lauren Conrad: From The Hills To The Coast

Former "The Hills" star Lauren Conrad headed to the beach over the weekend -- and it was all for a good cause!
The beauty, along with volunteers from Kohl's Department Store, took part in California Coastal Cleanup Day, presented by the California Coastal Commission and Whole Foods Market. Kohl's is an official sponsor of the event.
The statewide beach and park cleanup was part of an effort to encourage Californians to care for the conditions of the ocean and state.
Conrad was also at the event to celebrate her partnership with Kohl's, which sells her LC Lauren Conrad collection.
"I am very excited to be launching LC Lauren Conrad at Kohl's later this month because it's going to 300 stores and it's going to be on Kohls.com," Conrad said.
Watch the video to see what items she found while cleaning up the beach -- and hear more about her new clothing collection at Kohl's.

Whitney Port Talks New Season Of 'The City'

Lauren Conrad may have retired from the world of reality TV, but that doesn't mean she's left her friends behind. LC still hangs out with former "Hills" buddy and current "City" star Whitney Port, and the two reunited onstage as presenters on "VH1 Divas."
"Whitney Port," Conrad joked to MTV News on the red carpet for the show, when asked about a diva she knew. And, well, Port slung it right back at her. "I was going to say Lauren Conrad," she laughed. All jokes aside, Conrad said that she can't wait to catch the new season of "The City" when it starts on September 29.
She'll support me," Port added about Conrad. Port said that Conrad also had a hard time adjusting to working with PR guru Kelly Cutrone, so the two were able to share their experiences about the boss who apparently complicates Whitney's life in the new season. Thought Port said she thinks her friend has had scarier encounters with Cutrone than she has.
"I feel like you have because you met her in that really awkward position at the runway show," Port said to Conrad. "She's been kind of like a den mother to me. She's been really, really great. So I have no complaints."
But Port isn't saying she doesn't sometimes feel like Andy to Cutrone's Miranda. "You know there are ["The Devil Wears Prada" situations]," she said. "But it's like a love-hate relationship. She has to be strict because that's the way she gets her business done."
Port also recently shared with us some of the "empowering" advice she got from another one of her mentors, designer Diane von Furstenberg.
"Diane really taught me a lot about empowering myself as a woman, and in my relationship world, she taught me a lot about appreciating myself and putting myself
first."

Olivia Palermo attends Topshop Unique Spring/Summer 2010 at London Fashion Week 9/20

If, like us, you're a fan of Olivia Palermo's polished look - take note. The beautiful New York blonde is going brunette.
Front row at the Topshop Unique show yesterday she revealed to ELLEuk.com that she's going dark this autumn.
'I don't like my hair at the moment' she told us, so will be headed straight to her hairdresser Andre Davis (New York's hair extension expert) for a total rethink of her hairstyle as soon as she gets home.
After making an earlier appearance at Matthew Williamson, Olivia managed a quick costume change and was clad head-to-toe in Topshop when we caught up with her at their Unique show. This was Olivia's first trip to London Fashion Week - and the beauty is already causing quite a stir. Maybe The City star was taking notes for her new role in the PR department at US ELLE magazine.
