'The City's' - Olivia Palermo, Roxy Olin, Erin Kaplan and Samantha Swetra: bios and pics

Olivia Palermo is as cunning as she is beautiful. Not long after she got a promotion at Diane von Furstenberg, she connected with her old friend Joe Zee to score a job at ELLE Magazine in the accessories department.
Olivia was thrilled to leverage her social status and relationships for the position, but nothing could have prepared her for ELLE's Director of PR, Erin Kaplan.
She's got Joe Zee's vote of confidence, but under Erin's whip-smart, discerning eye, Olivia will have to prove that her verve for fashion goes deeper than loving to shop.

At 26, Erin is ELLE Magazine's youngest ever Director of Public Relations. She's done huge things for the magazine, and in the process has garnered Creative Director Joe Zee's highest esteem.
She's now faced with her biggest challenge to date: Olivia Palermo. To Erin, Olivia has the wrong experience and a bad attitude. But to Joe, she is a fashion maven with a strong eye and valuable relationships.
Tasked with working closely with Olivia, Erin's challenge is to prove to Joe Zee that Olivia is not a worthy employee, while he continues to believe in her abilities.

Samantha has emerged as Whitney's close friend and confidante. She is a real working girl, an Assistant Buyer for Bergdorf Goodman. Her other full time job? Partying. She's recently single and on a manhunt. But as with most things, Roxy has a thing or two to say about Samantha's taste in men and her partying ways.

Roxy and Whitney were friends in high school, as much as complete opposites can ever be friends. But while Whitney stuck to the straight & narrow, Roxy was a wild child. Now Roxy is making a big move toward a fresh start in NYC.
People have always called Roxy a bitch, but she thinks she's just a straight shooter, never afraid to say what's on her mind.
Thanks to Whitney, she's got a job at People's Revolution and a place to live. Roxy may have a knack for bringing Whitney out of her shell, but she can also be overbearing. Whether it's one-upping her at work with Kelly Cutrone, or throwing an out of control party at her apartment, Roxy is going to keep Whitney on her toes.

I figured Whitney deserved a post of her own, I'll post that later today/tonight.

  2. WOW I can't believe Erin's only 26! That's really impressive that she's the PR Director of Elle and so young. Go Erin! I like her a lot; she sees through Olivia's outer beauty and calls her on her b.s. Of course it was hard to miss when Olivia told her if she didn't like what she got, to do it herself. OH HELL NO. A so called socialite without social skills? Hmmmm

  3. I am conflicted about Erin. I must say I am impressed to find out she is 26. She has achieved a lot in her short years. I can definitely understand why she does not like Olivia. I think Olivia is extremely vain, cocky and pompous. However, when Erin uses so much energy to be negative about Olivia, it makes her look bad. She is starting to make herself look jealous and insecure. Erin needs to just let go, and let Olivia's actions speak for themselves. I still like Erin better though, at least she seems real, and she worked hard to get to where she is today.

  4. Erin is so young and successful.
Olivia will be a good challenge for her because Erin needs to learn how to manage a bitch like Olivia. Unfortunately ppl like Olivia are all around the world, and you just have to learn how to deal with them. It's good that Erin is sitll 26, she is a great potential :)

  5. I think Erin is fantastic - she's young, incredibly successful, intelligent, and manifestly passionate about the magazine and working to accomplish what's best for it. We all have to remember that every episode we see is an accumulation of strategically edited snippets that are stitched together to create a particular narrative; I don't think Erin's "bitchiness" - which appears to be unwarranted and downright spiteful at times - as its portrayed on the show is a fair representation of the situation. She simply strikes me as someone who has a clear sense of her expectations (for herself and for others, like Olivia), and because of her passion for the magazine, she's not willing to deviate from those expectations. She's great!

  6. It's pretty obvious that Erin Kaplan herself just posted that comment.....lol

Why does she talk out of one side of her mouth? It bothers me

  7. You guys really think that because you have money and beauty can do the things your way no matter your superiors? Wow!!! Olivia is a so called socialite without social and human skills. Erin is a young successful woman that Olivia don´t respect because Olivia think that no one that young and not a social like her deserve respect as a superior. Olivia, with all your money and beauty your always just an employee. Don't blame Erin for her success just because she earned it without being like you.

  8. Sounds like all of you are jealous of Erin. Did you see her pictures above! That girl could melt the devil she is so hot. Brains too, damn girl. She has it all. Love you Erin!

  9. Loooove Erin !!! YAY! I am so glad the City got someone that can see through Olivia!!

  10. Olivia is rude and thinks she can throw her weight around because she's been labeled a young woman with social connections. She may be intelligent but there is such a thing as tact. If she can't be professional (which requires VERY little effort, by the way) then perhaps she needs to find another career that doesn't involve as much person-to-person interaction.

  11. Just because Olivia is a snide bitch, with a pompous attitude, does NOT make her intelligent. In fact, Olivia's inadequacies at work are consistently shown, justifying Erin's necessity to micromanage, and swoop in to correct all of Olivia's ridiculous mistakes. In fact Olivia doesn't even have a fashion sense in the least! Did anyone see her STEAL the credit for Whitney's selection for the Elle mag cover? Geez. It doesn't take a fashion guru to hire a personal stylist and order the latest couture from the designers - anyone who can spend 10,000 on an outfit can look good! Geez. Olivia is so obviously lacking any personal great achievements & can't stand for anyone else to recieve acclaim, she'll do anything to climb her 'socialite ladder' (omg just about died laughing when Olivia HAD to mention about 16 times that she was a debutante!!!) How insecure can you get? I guess DADDY's money can't buy one "elegance", "virtue" "class" or "intelligence", nor can money buy a moral conscience!!
I also can't believe that she thinks it's ok to post on here raving about herself, and put down Erin.
She is so threatened by Erin because Erin has EARNED respect, and is truly an intelligent, classy, and gorgeous person. I admire & respect Erin & think she is totally justified in reflecting eyerolling at Olivia.
I love the show because Erin seems so interesting & successful, funny & inspiring.

    Go ERIN!!!

  12. It really does not matter what Olivia has done or not done. The bottom line is that Erin, being Director of the PR department at a high fashion magazine, is extremly jealous and very unprofessional, as well as insecure. With that kind of immaturity, she would not be allowed to sale my magazine in a news stand. Grow up for gosh sakes you little tattle tale!!

  13. I thought Olivia was older than Whitney Port like 3 or 4 years, because she talks in a much mature way. Olivia is very beautiful, but she doesn`t seems to know how to make good interviews. You can`t know everything in the beginning. She seems to work real good at diane von furstenberg though. I think she is really good in styling and socializing among people ,get the right contacts. Erin looks like 21 or something, she knows what she does as a PR-boss. But I think that Erin had a wrong attitude the first time she met Olivia, she should have been much more professional and friendly and open-minded to Olivia. Erin is also cute so I don`t think she was jealous.

I think that Olivia didn`t feel that she was welcomed by Erin, she felt a negative attitude from Erin at the first meeting. I believe that`s why Olivia is not friendly to Erin because she doesn`t trust her. They really need to talk and put things behind. The chemistry between them is wrong, but If they talk about what happened then they can solve it.

  15. I would be just as pissed off as Erin if I had to work with Olivia. She's so lazy.

  16. I think the editors mix the scenes very good, so on TV relationships appear to be more strain than they really are. I doesn't mean all this is fake, some things must be(the show couldn't be so great otherwise), coz it isn't, it fucking should be!

  17. every time olivia initiate a conversation, erin bites back or tries to hatch some little schemes in that weird head of hers.

It's like, is she intimidated by Olivia?

  18. I think everyone should give Olivia a break..I truly think the producers made her out to be the bad one, but I don't think that is the case. Erin on the otherhand is horrible and you can obviously tell she is very jealous of Olivia. I can't stand Erin and it doesn't appear that she has the talent to hae the position she is lucky to have. I wish they would drop Erin from the show.

  19. Erin is obviously NOT jealous of Olivia! She's a hell of a lot more successful than Olivia. I just think that she gets pissed when Olivia doesn't do anything useful and slacks off, being highly rude in the process. Erin just feels like Olivia's 3 second crap jobs aren't good enough, and who can blame her for striving to make her magazine better?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Erin is obviously qualified for her job, talented and smart. Olivia is rude, obnoxious and entitled. I have lost respect for Jay and Elle magazine for keeping her on. Not all publicity is good publicity. There's too much work to be done to babysit someone that takes no initiative and is unwillingly to learn.

  21. I think Erin is so great. She has the talent, the personality to go with it and she really knows what she's doing. I dont care who Olivia is or where she comes from, she thinks she can do what she likes and that there will be no consequences for her. I love how Erin puts up a fight, and love when she said: " no one held my hand so why should I hold hers".. your the best Erin and you'll go really far in your carreer!!

  22. Does anyone think that Joe should have consulted Erin before he hired Olivia? It is clear he expects them to work together and that Erin is Olivia's superior. I would think Erin would have had an opinion before the hiring...which might have made for a more congenial working relationship. I think Joe is the biggest problem. Olivia is no bargain and Erin does appear jealous, but Joe is a fool. Personally, I think Erin should start looking for a new position. Joe just loves Olivia.

  23. erin has worked her way up to her position without the glare of the spotlight why shouldnt she protect everything she has accomplished oloivia needs to get a clue not everythin can be solved by suckin up its called work !!

  24. I am definately team Olivia. Erin is vile. She acts like moody a 14 year old,- rolling her eyes and bitching whenever she can . As for the ultimatum- she should be sacked on the spot for thinking she can actually do that. Olivia is so behaving so much more professionally by not rising to Erins spitefullness. Finally re style- anyone who thinks that Erin wins this needs shooting. Did you see the outfits she chose in place of Olivias for the tv show- the 'shirt-dress' How she has a job after that is past me. Olivia upstages Erin in everyway -looks,style, manners, likability.. And thats what Erin can't handle.

  25. Oliva needs to go back to the hampdens and stay there.. And let Erin do here job..Bye Oliviaxxx

  26. Erin is so jealous of Olivia, it's pathetic. She comes across as bitter, jealous and plain old mean. It is written all over that face.
And we all know what I am talking about here ..

    ReplyDelete
  27. olivia thinks she is gods gift to the world. she seems just as terrible in real life. her attempts at speaking eloquently come off condescending, cold and to be perfectly honest she seems a bit stupid and uneducated. thats why she tries to speak/act older bc she really is inferior. she has some cute clothes but with that much money it is to be expected and i see nothing original or innately stylish about her.

even if you dont like erin's role on the show you have to commend her on her success at 26...clearly she has done something right to be the youngest PR Director Elle has ever had. she must have a good head on her shoulders. if i were around olivia i would probably not be able to tolerate her antics either. it would have nothing to do with jealousy, its just proven that that type of attitude doesn't fly in the real workforce and she shouldnt have preferential treatment because she is a "socialite".

also like someone else said, i was surprised at olivia's age. i feel bad that she looks and acts so old! poor girl.

and erin does talk out of one side of her mouth, though i've known people who've had bells palsy (face paralizaion) for a short time and thats how it happened to them...maybe it happened to her.

olivia speaks out of the bottom of her mouth and whitney emphasizes annunciations and speaks rather slow.

they all need to go see a speech pathologist on the next season of the city. lol that'd be great.

  28. Erin, You go girl! You are an excellent role model for all young women!

  29. OMG if Olivia is really like the way she is on the city then what a raging CU**....I mean yeah shes pretty but she has NO personality whatsoever and is so jealous of Erin and Whitney....I love how Erin made her look like a tool at the meeting and brought whitneys look book...If I were Erin or Whitney, I would have a real hard time not punching that arrogant, condesending bitch in the face! Oh and the way she talked to Roxy on the phone, who does she think she is, Anna Wintour? Like seriously get the fuc* over yourself Olivia! Maybe if she got laid she would loosen the F up!

    ReplyDelete
  30. i really do not understand why olivia is still at Elle magazine. she is rude, rude, rude. she has no people skills. she is a very jelous person, can't believe she is blocking Whitney, could not even interview Whitney at the photo shoot. I repeat again, WHY IS ELLE STILL EMPLOYING olivia? what is she bringing to the magazine? ruining it really. The way olivia speaks to Erin, is unacceptable.

    ReplyDelete
  31. First off, after reading some of the comments, I have to say... you do realize that a few months of filming get cut down to a few half hour shows? Editing can make anyone look any way you want them too.

I'm guessing that Erin got to her position in life through hard work and Olivia got hers through her connections. I'll put myself in Joe Zee's place for a minute ... Do I hire Olivia? ... well lets see what does she bring to Elle magazine? A damn TV show that's what! Huge exposure in a slumping economy and it doesn't cost the magazine a cent. Trust me if Olivia was dropped from the show she would be dropped from Elle.

I wonder who next season's hot Erin will be :)? Last season it was Erin Lucas smokin hot, this season Erin Kaplan Smokin hot, drive, brains, just the total package!
