The Hills (Season 5) | Ep. 17 'On to The Next' recap, aftershow and photos

Kristin and Brody meet for dinner and she questions whether Jayde will be angry if she finds out about it.
Brody says that they aren't talking at the minute and jokes that Kristin is being pretty flirtatious. She says that as far as she knows they are both single and should hang out together again.

Over at Heidi and Spencer's house, Heidi is babysitting Enzo again, much to the frustration of Spencer.
He says he still can't understand why she wants a baby, especially when she has her new puppies. Heidi replies that you can't compare the two and she is desperate to start a family.

"There's a we in a marriage, what about what I want? Your husband?" replies Spencer. "Maybe you're just selfish and only thinking about what you want." Heidi insists they need to start planning and asks what happens if she falls pregnant soon. "Is that a threat?" he responds.

Audrina meets Lo and confesses that she is planning to meet Justin but is torn because she still feels a spark. She says that he keeps bringing up the past and seems serious. Lo warns her to be careful.
Meanwhile, Kristin and Stacie are hanging out at her house and Kristin admits that she went on a date with Brody. "It was very easy, comfortable and fun," she explains. "But I still feel like he is torn between what he wants to do." Stacie questions whether it is a rebound, prompting Kristin to say she doesn't know.

Brody later takes Kristin to visit his mom, sparking a reminiscing session between the two women. His mom says they were "so cute together" and asks if there is anything going on between them now. They both say no.
Elsewhere, Spencer decides that a vasectomy is the only way to ensure that Heidi doesn't fall pregnant. He tells Charlie that the puppies didn't work and she wants a child more than ever. "I have no other choice," he says.

"I'm going to go to the source and make sure that baby can't happen," he tells the doctor. "I heard it's like a faucet. I can turn it off and turn it back on if I ever need to." The doctor says that the procedure can be non-reversible and makes Spencer squirm by showing him graphic pictures of the surgery. Spencer decides he can't go through with it.

That night, Kristen and Brody head to Playhouse with friends. Kristin asks what they are doing together and Brody says he doesn't know. He asks if she sees a future but she is unsure and admits she is scared of being hurt.

Their evening is later interrupted by the arrival of Jayde, who storms over to their table and asks what Brody is doing. She says they are on a break which means they shouldn't be dating other people. Their argument eventually descends into a shoving match and Kristin becomes involved despite Brody telling her to stay out of it.
"This is about you being a psycho," he tells Jayde. "That's exactly why we broke up." Brody and Kristin then decide to leave the club.

The next morning they reflect on the argument. Kristin brands Jayde a "freaking lunatic" but Brody wonders whether it is his own fault for being out with Kristin. "Why does it have to be so complicated"? he asks. "Nobody is even married!" Kristin again voices her concerns about getting hurt but Brody assures her that there is no chance of him and Jayde ever getting back together.

Spencer is finally forced to tell Heidi about his doctor's trip after Enzo rats him out. She's furious and accuses him of lying to her. "You knew I wanted kids when you married me so it sounds like marrying me was the biggest mistake you ever made," she says.

Later that evening, Audrina meets Justin for dinner. She admits that she has so much to say but doesn't even know where to start. She confesses that it would be great if they could work things out but that could take time. Justin seems unconvinced and remains quiet.

Audrina questions why he didn't go to Heidi's birthday and he says he wanted to avoid a conflict. She mentions that Kristin is now supposedly with Brody and that they attended the party together, prompting Justin to become standoffish.

He says that he shouldn't be here with her but suggests he came to "finalize something that's not there". "By you pushing me away, you pushed me to someone else and it got to the point where there are feelings there," he explains. "Kristin did something different to me than you and me had done."

"It's somewhere that I haven't really gone with somebody and I didn't want to think about the consequences... It was the first time I didn't have to worry about what Audrina was thinking," he adds, causing a visibly upset Audrina to leave the restaurant.
