Stephanie Pratt: Talks Charity Work

Stephanie tweeted:
"Great morning volunteering w @alisheanoel @ the LA mission. Kids were adorable w their Easter baskets!!! Now off to filming" and "Help feed the homeless- donate 5dollars by texting MEALS to 40579 (it will show on ur phone bill) thanks guys!! Xo"

Here's what Stephanie had to say about what gets her excited about helping out.
CGL: Over the holidays theres always a lot of positive press about your work at the LA Union Rescue Mission. I know youll be there helping out this Easter as well. Im wondering how you got involved and what you do with them outside the holidays.
Stephanie: Honestly, it was so easy to get involved. I Google searched missions that serve food on holidays and when I located the LA Missions information I reached out to their office. Anyone can do their part as a volunteer! Just Google volunteer work in your local area and find something that speaks to you!!
CGL: Other charities youre doing work for? Any regular charity buddy you can count on for help? Do cast members from "The Hills" join you ever?
Stephanie: The charities I currently involve myself with outside of the LA Mission are PETA, Much Love Animal Rescue, The Humane Society of the United States, and more I recently got involved with Saddle Up LA, and St. Jude Children's Hospital. Im currently designing a shoe through Shoes of Prey for all of my fans and fellow fashionistas. All of the profits will benefit St. Jude Children's Hospital. Its my goal to become more involved with serving at childrens hospitals. My regular charity buddy that I can always count on is my best friend Alicia. I dont typically do charity work with my other cast mates. We all have our individual charities that were really involved with, but I would always love the chance to have them come out and support me if they have the time!
CGL: Obviously you have plenty of demands on your time, so how do you go about deciding what charities you want to work with? Any favorites?
Stephanie: The charities that Im involved with are the ones I feel emotionally attached to. Each charity speaks to me in its own way.
CGL: Charity work isnt always top of mind for most people, and certainly twentysomethings arent the first to line up at the shelter for the thrill of helping. So why do you do it? And, any words of encouragement for others?
Stephanie: Ive been very blessed growing up and I now want to take this opportunity to help others when I can. Ive seen how easy it is to lose a job and be out on the streets. It could happen to any of us. I really think that we should help one another as human beings in this world. It is also so important for me to look out for animals since they dont have a voice to speak for themselves.
CGL: Was the idea of volunteering something you and your brother were exposed to as kids?
Stephanie: My brother and I went to Crossroads and that high school really encouraged community service.
CGL: And who do you see as someone in Hollywood thats really makes a difference in the lives of others?
Stephanie: I have to say that I really admire Ellen Degeneres. She is such a busy woman with a million things going on, and yet she still finds the time to speak out for those without a voice. She and Portia de Rossi have really been involved in the animal community raising awareness towards animal cruelty, adoption, etc. It was with their help that Prop 2 was passed in California in 2009.
CGL: What are you working on these days and what do you have coming up?
Stephanie: I am currently filming the last season of "The Hills." Other than that, I am still working on my purse line which Im hoping will debut within the next year, and I spend a lot of time at the E! Network. I really love it there and enjoy being a part of their segments on The Soup and the Daily 10.
