Audrina Patridge Explains Why Everyone on The Hills Seemed to Have Never-ending Wardrobes

We caught up with the reality star and fashionista, 25, to talk being a Rolling Stone cover girl, her red carpet style, and why Heidi Montag’s new ‘look’ isn’t for her
Audrina can’t stop apologising for turning up late to our shoot. In her defence she is jet lagged and was up until 4am the previous night partying, so in celeb terms, a measly one hour delay is practically early. So much for the LA diva we were expecting to meet…
I thought The Hills would last a few months, not four years, and would just be great experience in front of the camera. I think the turning point was when we were asked to do the cover of Rolling Stone. We were so excited about that.
I did my own hair and make-up every day on the show, but I wasn’t trying to be a style icon. I’d usually just throw on a T-shirt and jeans. It was great when we had scenes sitting at a table because I only had to worry about what I wore on my top half.
There were times when I wanted to get away from the cameras. Like when I was arguing with my boyfriend Justin. We’d take our mics off and walk away, but they’d chase us with the camera.
The best things I wore on the series were a pair of thigh high Lanvin boots. But we were only allowed to wear things once for continuity. They’d take a picture and then I’d never be able to wear that outfit again.
For red carpets I love wearing things that are bold, classy, sexy and flirty all at the same time. So instead of a tight dress I’ll wear a baggy, short, backless one with some cute knee-high boots. I love Kate Moss and Sienna Miller’s style. I can’t wait to go shopping in Topshop while I’m in the UK.
The most expensive thing I bought recently was a $5,000 (£3,135) Chanel surfboard. I’m using it as décor in my bedroom until I get really good at surfing. It’s too pretty to risk chipping it.
I only go to the gym a couple of times a week. My mum has a perfect figure, so I’m blessed with her genes, which helps, and I’m generally an active person. I can’t sit still. And I eat whatever I want, just in moderation. I’m lucky because I don’t really like sweet things, my weakness is fast food.
If I’m in a bikini on the show I don’t want to be thinking, ‘Oh God, is my butt sticking out?’ So if I had a beach scene coming up, I’d go to the gym a little more. A good tip is bronzer – it really slims you and makes you look toned. I always had a St Tropez spray tan before wearing a bikini.
Lots of people in LA get surgery and it’s funny because they all start looking the same. I think it’s important to have your own look and keep what you’re born with. It’s not something I’m going to do any time soon.
What’s next? I’d love to do a period drama, like The Tudors. I’m auditioning lots right now, I don’t get anything handed to me. It’s hard,
It’s hard, but you have to keep trying.

  1. Ugh, I like her but she's had 2 boob jobs and lip injections. So her comments to stay how you are are hypocritical.

  2. correction, she had one bad boob job and her lips plumped. she still looks like herself just with bigger tatas. and she was talking about extreme surgery not girls who get one procedure. there's big difference between what she did and what heidi montag did.
