Ep. 516: The Hills (Season 5) | Ep. 16 'I'm Done With You' - recap, photos and aftershow

At Heidi and Spencer's house, Heidi brings Spencer a drink and begins to drop some heavy hints about her upcoming birthday. Spencer notices immediately and Heidi gives up all pretence of subtlety. She would like a party and tells Spencer, "You love parties, you got the party house now please give me a birthday party!"

Round at Audrina's, Lo is helping Audrina fold her laundry. Lo announces that Brody and Jayde are on a break. The girls then discuss their invitations to Heidi's party. Lo isn't going but Audrina says she's considering it. The conversation then moves to what will happen if Kristin goes. Audrina says, "I'm going there for Heidi not her".

Kristen walks into Bodega Wine Bar to meet Justin to discuss the party. Kristin is going and Justin asks whether she wouldn't prefer not to go because of the possibility of seeing Audrina.

Justin has decided not to go for this very reason. He is also concerned about the possibility of Audrina and Kristin becoming friends. Kristin asks whether she should be worried about that - "is there something you're not telling me?" Justin denies this and the pair then sit at the table in awkward silence.
Heidi berates Spencer for not helping her set up for the party but soon turns her attention to the guest list.

Spencer tells her that Brody is coming with Kristin but that Brody and Jayde are on a break, not broken up. He also doubts that Audrina will come but Heidi is more optimistic - "I think [Kristin and Audrina] just got started off on the wrong foot".
The conversation then turns to what Spencer has got Heidi for her birthday present. She hopefully suggests "lots of diamonds" but Spencer has something more sentimental planned. "It better be amazing to make up for me doing my own birthday party," Heidi observes while Spencer rolls his eyes.

Audrina and Stephanie are discussing Spencer and Heidi's new house on the way to the party when Stephanie mentions that Kristin's going.
Audrina confesses that she met up with Justin and he said that that Kristin and he 'aren't really dating'. Justin also told Audrina that it felt weird having Kristin riding in Audrina's spot on his bike.
Stephanie asks whether Audrina is going to tell Kristin. "Maybe she needs to know", Audrina replies.

The guests begin to arrive and Spencer toasts his "beautiful wife and amazing friends" before giving Heidi her gift - two puppies in a Louis Vuitton bag. He announces that they are "the only babies this husband is ever going to provide".
Brody asks why Spencer doesn't want babies - "Are you afraid they're going to grow up like you?" Spencer laughs and agrees.
Audrina and Stephanie arrive, cutting short Kristin's answer to a question about whether she is really dating Justin.
Kristin is talking to Spencer's friend Spencer Gilbert (Spencer Gilbert?? that has to be a play off of Justin Bobby!) and jokes about using his knife pendant to kill some of the party guests. Spencer Gilbert assumes she means the boys but Kristin answers, "Not the boys - I love the boys!"

Outside Audrina and Brody are talking. He tells her that his relationship with Jayde is "kind of on the ropes". Audrina notes that Kristin might get upset that she and Brody are even talking.
Kristin is inside the house glaring as Audrina tells Brody that Kristin "is not the relationship type" and that she will try to get him back to hurt Jayde and then move on to someone else.

Back inside, Kristin asks Brody how his chat with Audrina was and suggests talking to her herself to clear the air.
The pair go outside and Kristin suggests that they stop ignoring each other as they have the same friends. She is hurt that her previous attempts to talk to Audrina have been refused.
Audrina asks why he should feel the need to sit down and talk with Kristin as she doesn't owe her anything. She tells Kristin she wanted to distance herself from Justin.

Kristin takes this opportunity to tell Audrina that Justin never thought they were a couple, asking: "As a woman how could you let him do that to you?"

Audrina counters that Justin told her that he was never with Kristin and that he never got over Audrina. Kristin is disbelieving. Audrina tells Kristin "I could care less who you date and who you get involved with" before leaving the party with Stephanie.

Fed up with giving him “more chances than any other guy,” Kristin decided to end it with JB. “When I see a pattern, I move on,” she said. He seemed like the mature one when he wondered if her accusations were meant to get a rise out of him. “If anything, that pushes me away,” he said to her back as she walked out the door.

Olivia stays true to her word and dyes it darker

While perched front row at Topshop Unique’s S/S 10 show in London, Olivia Palermo exclusively told ELLEuk.com ‘I don't like my hair at the moment, I’m planning on going brunette as soon as I get back home’. And true to her word, The City star has just dyed it darker.

We spotted Olivia last week at The Gentleman’s Ball 2009 in New York with her new luscious locks. We were so impressed with her style change that we had to find out more.
Olivia gets her hair cut and coloured at the award-winning Roy Teeluck Salon in New York, where she also has hair extensions by expert Andre Davis.
We called the salon manager, Keith Broughton who told us “We use L’Oreal colour on Olivia’s hair”. But they couldn’t reveal to us her personal formula - that’s a secret. ‘You can’t achieve the same look just by applying Olivia's formula because the results will vary depending on the person's hair,’ added Keith.
He did say that if any of our readers want to get Olivia’s look though, they’d get a free consultation with a colourist at the salon. We’ll be booking our flights now, then.

"It" Girl: Olivia Palermo on The City, ELLE, Joe Zee, Whitney Port, Erin Kaplan and... Reality.

Since the new season of MTV's The City began, it became clear Olivia Palermo will be getting more spotlight than ever, and deservingly so. Although Whitney's life in the big city is full of action (or mostly lessons in people's nature I would say), Olivia's world is not less intriguing. From her new job at ELLE magazine to high profile social circle she's been always part of - this always perfectly put together "It" girl knows exactly what she wants ("all of it") and she goes for it. That's why when offered a chance for an exclusive interview with Olivia, I was excited for the opportunity to get to know her better. Obviously, she is here to stay in public spotlight, in The City or outside of it.
YZ: It’s not a secret that reality shows do not always match the reality. How do you feel about your portrayal on the show?
OP: I know that people who watch the show tend to feel like they know me, but there’s a lot more to me beyond what you see on The City. I don’t think that the 10 minutes of screen time I get every week can really give anyone a true sense of what I’m like as a person. Whether its negative or positive, I think what you see of me on the show is a very limited aspect of my life and my personality.
YZ: You and Whitney don’t seem to interact much this season – what are your relationships really like?
OP: Now that Whitney and I don’t work together, we don’t get to see each other all that much. We’re both really busy with work and trying to keep up with our lives outside of the show, but when we do run into each other it’s definitely very friendly. I’ve never had any hard feelings towards Whitney.
YZ: According to Joe Zee you really stepped it up during the last ELLE assignment – do you feel like you are finally grasping the job? What are some of the lessons you learned so far at ELLE?
OP: I’ve been very lucky to have the support of Joe Zee, who I think has one of the most brilliant minds in fashion right now. It would be hard to work with him and not learn new things every day. It’s been really fun to get behind the scenes and learn the background and the history and all the inner-workings – I’ve gained a whole new appreciation for the long hours and hard work that go into the making of the magazine.
YZ: It seems like you’ve won Joe Zee’s heart, but not Erin’s… What are you relationships really like? Is there more drama than we could catch on the small screen?
OP: My relationship with Erin has been challenging and I think we probably got off on the wrong foot. I felt like she had a preconceived notion of me and treated me with hostility straight off the bat. It was hard for me to walk into a new work environment where that was the case, just as I’m sure it was hard for Erin to adjust to the cameras coming into her work environment. It was a new experience for both of us and unfortunately, things didn’t go as smoothly as I had hoped, but I’m just doing my best to work through it. At the end of the day we’re both there to do a job and act in the best interest of the magazine. I’m doing my best to put our differences aside and move on.
YZ: Do you see you future in ELLE? Is this your dream job or there are any other fields you would like to pursue?
OP: Working at Elle is definitely an amazing job and a fantastic learning experience, but there’s so many different areas that interest me. I’d also love to try my hand at designing, maybe acting, maybe some other projects in the entertainment arena… Ideally, I’d like to try it all.
YZ: We heard some rumors about your new jewelry line. Tell us more!
OP: I can’t give too much away because its still a work in progress but I can say that I’ve been collaborating with one of my favorite designers, Roberta Freymann on some great jewelry pieces. It’s been a really fun project for me and I’m very excited for everything to be finalized.
YZ: Let’s talk about your personal style - what is your “It” bag for this fall season? ”It” shoe?
OP: My “it” bag for the season has been my Chloe Gemma bag and I’m loving Topshop’s grey lace-up platform booties. I think most people have already caught on to this but I am a huge Topshop fan. Designer Brian Reyes has a really beautiful accessories line – I love his classic pump in stingray and am a huge fan of his jewelry line, which is very reasonably priced.
YZ: Your hair looks consistently flawless – are there any hair styling/care secrets you could share?
OP: I just do my best to keep it healthy. I try to give my hair a rest from the heat and styling tools every so often by wearing it straight or pulling it back.
YZ: What are some things we wouldn't know about you from watching "The City?"
OP: Well, there’s a lot people don’t get to see. I think for the most part you see me in a stressful work environment butting heads with a coworker… and of course there’s a lot that takes place that eventually ends up on the editing room floor. Unfortunately you don’t get to see me with the people I really love and care about and how I interact with them, which is very different from the way I interact with most people on the show.
YZ: The show episodes are widely covered in the blogosphere. Do you read blogs? What are some of your favorites?
OP: The blogs and websites I read are more fashion and style based or news . I try to ignore all the reviewers and commentators who write about me and the show – it can really distort your sense of self. I think it’s important to just stay grounded and keep doing what you’re doing. I don’t like to read show recaps or anything like that – I was there, I know what happened.
