Heidi Montag Calls Debut LP 'The Most Challenging Thing I've Ever Done'
"Hills" star Heidi Montag finally released her debut album, Superficial, on Tuesday (January 12). After working on the LP for years and spending time in the studio with producers and songwriters like Cathy Dennis and Steve Morales, Montag is ready to prove she's more than just a reality-TV star.
"Today is one of the biggest days of my life. I have been working three years on this," she told MTV News. "I have spent all my money. I am literally broke because I did this independently. Most artists just go in the booth and sing the songs. For me, I had to find the song, choose the song, track it down, book the studio time. I really wanted to be a part of it every step of the way."
Montag knows some people will be skeptical of her musical ability because she got her start on "The Hills," but she's ready to make a name for herself like any other pop rookie. "I think all new artists need to prove themselves," she explained. "I think the music speaks for itself. I had the best people producing. I had the best songwriters."
Getting those famed producers and songwriters to work with her wasn't easy, she recalled. "It was very difficult, especially not having a label. I had to find them," she said. "It really was a blessing that all this came together. It took me three years. It was the most challenging thing I've ever done, and I didn't have a lot of money. I was literally paying for songs, check by check."
Citing the Beatles and Michael Jackson as inspirations for making the album, Montag is happy she took her time. "They spent years on albums, 'cause they wanted the quality to be so good, and that's really what I did," she said. "I'm bringing it back to that old mentality of music. I, literally, the last three years, have been in studios almost every day, and I've put more into this than anyone could possibly comprehend."

Heidi Montag Talks ‘Superficial’ with Ryan Seacrest
Today, Heidi officially dropped her debut album, Superficial. Superficial is available for purchase at amazon.com, which asks $9.99 for the digital download.
"The wait is over," Heidi Twittered Tuesday. "I put every dollar I have into this album and put three years of my heart and soul into this! ENJOY!"
Heidi talked to Ryan Seacrest this morning during On Air with Ryan Seacrest, here's an excerpt:
Ryan queried Heidi about why Speidi has been so quiet lately.
"Well this was our first holiday together," Heidi said "this was our first married Christmas together and I've really just been kind of being grounded and figuring out for my big album release. I've spent 3 years on this album and so for me it's just the kind of the calm before the storm because it's about to get just crazy. So I've been really concentrating on this album and how we're going to push it and kind of just been concentrating and really focusing on that."
Ryan asked Heidi if she ironically called her album Superficial.
“No, it’s not ironically called Superficial,” Heidi tried to explain. “I think that superficial is kind of a double entendre. It's superficial in the sense that everything kind of in Hollywood is a little bit superficial, kind of LA like the fakeness of it, and superficial in a positive way too how it's not what it seems and it's the inside that counts, it's kind of the unknown in the known."
Ryan then asked Heidi to clarify the pregnancy rumors and asked if she and Spencer Pratt were trying to have kids.
“Um no, I think right now we’re kind of on hold,” she said. "I think that would kind of be distracting from this album coming up but one day i would love to have kids, but i don't know if Spencer quite feels the same way i do."

Audrina Patridge and Matt Nordgren: Just Friends or ?
Attention, gentlemen! Audrina Patridge is available.
Despite paparazzi photos that suggest otherwise, Patridge has not scored a touchdown with Matt Nordgren, a 27-year-old former pro football prospect.
An eyewitness tells us the 24-year-old Hills hottie and the pigskin player looked like they were having a "romantic dinner" when they were spotted last week dining at hot spot Nobu in West Hollywood.
And then...
They were snapped later that night leaving nearby Voyeur nightclub with their arms around each other.
But Patridge's rep insists Nordgren is "absolutely not Audrina's new man."
"Audrina is completely single," the rep says. "Audrina and Matt have a few mutual friends, and he was in L.A. visiting them for a few days."
This isn't the first person Patridge has been linked to since her September breakup with BMX star Corey Bohan. The MTV reality starlet also had people talking when she reportedly left Us Weekly's Hot Hollywood party with Glee's Mark Salling in November.

Kristin Cavallari Relates to Jersey Shore’s The Situation
Though she has allegiance to The Hills, Kristin Cavallari admits she’s smitten with another MTV show, Jersey Shore.
“I love it,” she said. “Is that bad that I love it?”
Cavallari says that if she were on Jersey Shore her nickname would be “the straight-up gangster” and her favorite character is Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino.
“He’s the best,” she told PEOPLE Saturday while celebrating her 23 birthday at Las Vegas Eve Nightclub and Eva Longoria’s Vegas restaurant Beso.
Maybe that’s because she can relate: Sorentino has his share of haters, Cavallari relishes her role as the resident bad girl on The Hills.
“I have a good time with it,” she said. “I can’t sit here and stress about my image on The Hills. I’d drive myself crazy.”
“I prefer to be the bad girl and have fun with it,” she adds. “You know, it’s a job, let’s have fun with it.”
She definitly has 'Jersey Shore' on her mind because she also discussed the show with US Weekly:
"I'm not going to lie, I'm kind of jealous," Kristin Cavallari told UsMagazine.com when asked about the new hit MTV show at her 23rd birthday party Saturday at Beso, Eva Longoria Parker's Las Vegas restaurant that connects with her nightclub, Eve.
Jersey Shore's Jan. 7 show had its highest ratings ever -- more than 3.2 million viewers. (In comparison, ratings for The Hills ratings have dropped significantly: 1.72 million viewers tuned in to the October season 5 finale; 2.6 million viewers watched the season 4 finale.)
Cavallari's favorite character? "The Situation," she told Us. "I mean, come on, right?"
She said she'd even date a guido.
"Maybe, if I liked him," she told Us. "I mean, if I was attracted to him, absolutely."
