Video & Photos of The Intro For Lauren Conrad's Cancelled MTV Reality Show

I am totally hating on MTV right now : ( . Let's all hope Lauren releases some of the video content on her website.
Sorry guys! The video is no longer available for viewing. MTV/Viacom yanked it down from youtube and the creators own site! Talk about heavy handed.

15 Minutes with Lauren Conrad: Designer, Author, Mogul

By Kerry Pieri @ StyleCaster
What made you want to launch a personal line again?
I wanted to do it when I started working with Kohl's – I wanted to be able to work on that and develop my brand.
Why did you opt not to use your name when branding Paper Crown?
I think that when you take your name out it makes it less of celebrity brand and that’s what we were were trying to do. We wanted something that had that whimsical, youthful sound. The name comes from when I was young I used to play dress up a lot and I would go to my Grandma's house I didn’t have my trunk there and so we would make paper crowns – it was a way of making your own glamour.
What was the inspiration for the first collection?
The first collection is for fall, and for the brand overall we wanted to balance out hard and soft so we put chiffon and soft fabrics with leather – it's all about achieving that balance.
What are some of your favorite pieces personally?
I love the tiered chiffon dress, I think it's really beautiful, we worked a lot on the fit. We also did a faux leather legging that's really great also.
What was the audience you were appealing to in terms of price point?
This line is really about higher end, more specialty pieces. The price point is between $59 and $460. We wanted a lot of variety, but it's competitively priced for a contemporary line. We just went to Coterie [sales trade fair in New York City] and it’s meant to be more specialty and more boutique and appropriate for the right sections of a department store.

You had planned on launching this collection with a reality show on MTV, which was later canceled. Were you relieved or would you have wanted the press it would have brought?
Both options come with pros and cons there’s definitely a pro of marketing a line, but the process is simpler without a crew of cameras and we're not as limited to what we can do because cameras have to have access and people aren’t always willing to work with you.
Would you ever do a reality show again?
I don’t know – you never say never but not at this point.
Where do you see Paper Crown in the future? Stand alone stores? E-commerce?
We want to start on e-commerce, not on our own but with an online store. I think it’s difficult to have stores but we’re not ruling it out
Who would your ideal celebrity be to wear Paper Crown?
There's no one in particular, we wanted pieces that weren't so specific to one person or one style, so it can be worn differently and by all different women.
How would you describe your personal style right now?
I’m loving the whole 70s trend, I lived in skinny jeans for years and years and for the first time I’m starting to wear a flair. I love flowy fabrics and pretty prints.
Do you read trend forecasts and the like or do you prefer just to design what you're feeling?
I think it’s a marriage of the two because you have to be trend conscious but you want to be creative and create something different – you’re creating your own designs while keeping trends in mind.
Do you think of Paper Crown as an every day wear collection or more special occasion?
It's a collection for both-there's staple pieces in there, the blazer and we wanted pieces that are transitional pieces that can be worn up or down, but that full length chiffon is for special occasions, definitely.

Lauren Conrad Explains Why She Won't Get To Wear Her New Line, Paper Crown (until March)

"I tend to spill on things," Lauren Conrad explains, which means her business partner (and childhood friend), Maura McManus, isn't letting Conrad wear any of the samples from their new collection, Paper Crown, until after Coterie wraps up. "This is entirely self-funded," the 25-year-old explains, which is just one of the reasons she wants the collection of romantically tinged party dresses and leather leggings to be in pristine collection when boutique owners from across the country descend on the three-day-long NYC trade show to place their orders. "It's just three of us," she adds, "so I'll be there, working our booth!"
Sadly, none of their New York City escapades will be caught on tape, after MTV decided to pass on the pilot they ordered from the star, which was intended to document the launch of the line. "I'm disappointed," she explains, "because I loved the show, but ultimately they wanted it to be about my personal life." And while Conrad has received offers from companies eager to pick up where MTV left off, she's torn, if only because it would be just half of the story. "Since we stopped production, we finalized the line, shot the lookbook, and now we're going to New York," she explains. "The show was about a group of friends coming together and making something from scratch, and that's what we wanted to capture."
While film crews missed those crucial final moments, the effort is captured in the Paper Crown lookbook, which is packed with pieces that look like they could have been lifted straight out of Conrad's own closet. "I know how important branding is," she explains, "so it feels very cohesive, and very much like me." Case in point, she can't wait to take one of the tiered maxi dresses for a spin, and she intends to pair it with the Paper Crown cropped leather jacket. "It's a very romantic dress, but the jacket toughens it up a bit," she adds. While the line is significantly more expensive than the LC Lauren Conrad collection, which she'll continue to design for Kohl's, Conrad is aiming for a high cost-per-wear ratio with Paper Crown. "Nothing is overly trendy," she adds. "We want these pieces to be in people's closets for a long, long time."

Kristin Cavallari: "Lauren Conrad Isn't Trashy Enough For MTV"

By Jethro Nededog
On both MTV's "Laguna Beach" and "The Hills," Kristin Cavallari was portrayed as Lauren Conrad's arch nemesis. But, to speak to Cavallari today, she would say very little that was portrayed on "The Hills" resembled her actual life.
"Yeah, in high school," Cavallari tells Zap2it when we asked her about her supposed rivalry with Conrad.
"We're very friendly with each other," she says. "The last time we saw each other was 'The Hills' wrap party. We hung out all night. We're very friendly. I don't have her phone number. I don't call her. But when we see each other, we're very nice."
Cavallari, who will be guest starring on Wednesday's (Feb. 16) episode of "The Middle" on ABC, says that she was surprised to hear that MTV canceled Conrad's reality show before it even aired. But, while she expressed that she didn't expect that Conrad's show would be killed by the network, she says she can understand why.
"To be honest I think that 'Jersey Shore' is so freakin' hot," she says. "The ratings are unbelievable. And I think that, unfortunately, TV is getting trashier and trashier. Lauren's very sweet and very nice. That's not always that very entertaining."

Lauren Conrad Forging Ahead With New Reality Show

Lauren Conrad may be headed back to the small screen after all.
Though her MTV reality series was recently dropped for being "too high brow," the 25-year-old Hills alum told UsMagazine.com that several other networks have expressed interest in picking up the show.
"The amount of offers I've gotten has been very flattering," Conrad told Us while celebrating her birthday at Pure nightclub in Las Vegas Saturday. "We all worked really hard on it and I'm really proud of it. It turned out fantastic, so stay tuned."
Prior to being scrapped by MTV, the proposed program aimed to be the antithesis of what made Laguna Beach and The Hills so popular: a drama-free look at Conrad's life as a fashion designer.
While Conrad's reality show continues to search for a new home, the California negative tells Us she's kept busy working on her Paper Crown clothing line.
"We just got our look book and we're going to Coterie in about a week, so we're very excited about that," she said. "Things are going really great. I'm running it with my best friends. It's a really fun project."

Lauren Conrad's Friends Defend Her Cancelled Reality show‎

Lauren Conrad isn't the only MTV starlet that has a bone to pick with the network.
Her former Hills pal, Stephanie Pratt, told UsMagazine.com Thursday she was just as disappointed when she heard they were scrapping plans for Conrad's documentary-style reality show that was set to focus on her upcoming fashion line.
"I was pretty shocked," Pratt, 24, said at the PETA's New York Fashion Week party. "I think it's such an inspirational show that people really get to see that dreams come true. I was really shocked. I thought it would have been great for kids to watch."
Conrad's bestie, Lo Bosworth, added that she has faith Conrad will land on her Louboutin-heeled feet.
"She's doing great," The Lo-Down author, 24, told Us. "I'm sure everything will work out in the end."
Of course, Conrad didn't take her disappointment lying down. After her show -- which was said to lack the drama and catfights of The Hills was dropped -- The designer, 25, fired back a statement to Us saying, in part, "We delivered the show that we sold and are sorry MTV didn't feel their viewers were savvy enough to appreciate it."

Lauren Conrad's New Reality Show Has Been CANCELLED!

Last fall, MTV announced that it was reuniting with Lauren Conrad, star of the network’s Laguna Beach and The Hills, for another reality series focused on the young star’s burgeoning fashion line. But EW has EXCLUSIVELY learned why the Conrad series has been passed on by the network. “We decided not to go ahead with the show,” says David Janollari, EVP, Head of Programming for MTV. “She did do a pilot. There were talks about whether we could somehow manage to put together a special based on that footage but that’s also a big question mark based on her interest in that and the finances. We love her! We would love her on our network!” The proposed series was not a glossy reality soap like The Hills but much more documentary style. It was also noticeably absent from MTV’s Upfront this week. Says Janollari, “It was a great attempt but it just didn’t feel like a perfect fit for us now.” (The news of Conrad’s show not moving forward was first reported by blogger Rob Owen.)
UPDATE Lauren Conrad has sent EW a statement regarding MTV’s decision: “We sold a show to MTV, filmed it and are really proud of the final result. MTV felt the subject matter was too high brow for their audience and offered me the opportunity to change the show by incorporating more of my personal life. We agreed going into the project that this show would be an aspirational one, focusing on my career and my goals and not my personal relationships. We delivered the show that we sold and are sorry MTV didn’t feel their viewers were savvy enough to appreciate it.”
There aren't enough words to begin describe how annoyed and disappointed I am. I can't believe there is a pilot out there that we will never get to see! : ( I really hope another network swoops in and saves the day.

Lauren Conrad Begins Shooting New Reality Show in a Week!

Lauren Conrad is getting camera-ready: She tells UsMagazine.com she begins shooting her new MTV reality show in a week!
"Right now it's like music samples and picking lights," she told Us Wednesday at an Operation Smile event in Beverly Hills. "We start in about a week. I'm excited. It's smaller this time, which is really great and most of the people I'm working with are most of my favorite people."
The show will be shot more like a documentary (think The September Issue) and focus on getting her new fashion line, Paper Crown, off the ground.
It's going to focus on a clothing line I'm doing with two of my best friends, but it's also going to show all the other things that I do as well as the lifestyle," she told Us.
Don't expect any catfights a la The Hills.
"This [show] is the other side," she told Us. "While we were filming, there was so much of our lives that we weren't allowed to show, and this is basically the rest."

Lauren Conrad: Fiercely Fashionable

By Alfa Garcia
By most measures, Lauren Conrad has broken the reality TV star mold. A career that could have ended with drastic plastic surgeries, a trip to jail or public mockery has instead continued with Conrad, 24, positioning herself to become the style icon for ladies in the teen-to-20s age bracket.
After ditching MTV's "The Hills," Conrad released the first of three teen-lit books (the final, "Sugar & Spice," hits stores Tuesday), inspired by her travails on reality TV. Then she put her fashion background to work on a clothing line at Kohl's. Also Tuesday, the Orange County, Calif., native will release "Lauren Conrad: Style," a comprehensive handbook of tips on everything from shopping and makeup to packing for travel and posing for the cameras.
"I think it's really written for anyone who has an interest in style or who is looking to fine-tune their own and learn a few things," says Conrad, speaking from her home in California.
"Lauren Conrad: Style" is a rite of passage into legitimacy for the celebrity, who built her career on MTV's "Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County" as well as "The Hills," both series that were popular but largely seen as superficial. Conrad embraced her stint on the shows as opportunities to launch her real love: fashion.
"To be honest, I think a little bit of it was luck," she says. "And I just did things that I loved. Ever since I was young I knew I wanted to work in fashion, and that was just something I stuck with and was very fortunate to have some great opportunities [with]."
It was announced in late September that Conrad will appear in an upcoming MTV reality show, "Lauren Conrad: Fiercely Fashionable," which will focus on the launch of Paper Crown, her new upscale clothing brand.
"I'm doing this on my own, which I've never had the opportunity to do," says Conrad, who adds that her line will offer specialty apparel, a different take from her casual offerings at Kohl's. "I'm also working with a couple of my very good friends who will be in it as well. … It should be really fun."
Shooting has yet to begin on the documentary-style series. Unlike "The Hills," the show will not focus on Conrad's personal life. Nonetheless, interest in the young star continues — so much so that Conrad recently moved 20 minutes outside of Hollywood to escape the paparazzo's eye.
My last house, it was a challenge, because you were getting photographed every day. Now I get to be a little more unseen," she says, withholding the name of her new neighborhood.
Yet despite her attempts at a normal life, Conrad embraces the attention. After all, the public fascination that keeps the cameras flashing also sells books, clothes and TV shows, and Conrad is a master at working the publicity machine, whether through her million-plus followers on Twitter or her two-week tour for both book releases. With her entrepreneurial smarts, it seems Conrad was never bound for the pitfalls of reality TV.
"I think that I knew from the very beginning that television was going to launch my career," she says. "I don't know that it's bad that people know where you came from. I think it's always important to remember that."
