Most people know Whitney Port as a reality star from "The Hills" and "The City," but she's also an aspiring fashion designer who has learned her craft from industry vets like designer Diane Von Furstenberg and PR maven Kelly Cutrone. If Port had the chance to sit down and design something for fashion daredevil Lady Gaga — who will probably have everyone talking when she sashays onto the Video Music Awards red carpet on Sunday — she would probably help Gaga embrace her inner lady with a softer, more feminine look.
"Oh, my gosh! Kind of like some sort of metallic dress," she told MTV News about the type of dress she would design for the pop star. "Something like a little metallic cocktail dress. Something you don't really see her in."
But if Port isn't called in at the last minute to be the latest designer in the Haus of Gaga, she is sure that whatever Gaga wears will be experimental and out there.
"Lady Gaga will probably wear, I'm sure, some sort of spandexy black thing, but I have no idea," she said. "I think she takes so many chances. I really commend her for that."
Port isn't the only fashion-industry insider weighing in on Gaga's style. Joe Zee, creative director for Elle, told MTV News that Gaga's bold aesthetic makes her a standout. "I think she's daring," Zee said. "She's unpredictable, and at the end of the day, fashion is unpredictable."
